How It Works

Measured from space. Priced on your terms.

GetMyRoofCost does two things: it measures roofs from satellite imagery and prices them with published cost data — free, with no signup — and, only if you ask, it lets local roofers send you real prices without ever giving them your contact details.

Step 1 — Measure

You type an address. Our server (never your browser) asks Google's Solar API for that building's roof geometry: total area, each section's area and pitch, and the date of the imagery. Your address is used to measure your roof — it is not attached to anything a roofer sees.

Step 2 — Price

We convert the measurement to billable squares with a transparent complexity factor (1.05–1.17, based on section count and steepness) and price it from our published dataset: national per-square bands by material, adjusted for your state's roofer wages (BLS OEWS). You see a range, the imagery date, and the honesty note. Full method on the methodology page.

Step 3 — Real prices, on your terms (optional)

If you want firm prices, you may leave an email — only an email. After you confirm it (double opt-in), we issue a job card to vetted roofers in your area containing your roof's measurements, chosen material, estimate range, city, and ZIP. Roofers submit one real price each within 5 business days. Prices arrive by email and on a private page. Only if you click "let this roofer contact me" does that one roofer receive your name, address, and preferred contact channel. Choose nobody, and nothing is ever released.

What we earn

What's in it for us? If you choose one of these roofers, they pay us a small referral fee. You never pay us anything, and it doesn't change the price they give you. The site also carries advertising. The estimate is free either way — that is the whole model.

Current status

The estimator and cost guides are live nationally. The real-prices step opens area by area as roofers are vetted — Washington (Snohomish County) first. State pages say plainly whether real prices are live in that state; we never fake a match.
